Description
Berlin, the 80s.
A fervent, torn place that the Iron Curtain separates not only in the people‘s minds but also through the Wall. Despite all of those differences, there is one thing that has repeatedly united the people
- music. In both the West and the East, like-minded individuals embrace and love music, dance in bars, clubs, and other unlikely places. Despite the separation, connections were often made, bonds were established and ideas were exchanged.
In “RA•DAU” Users find themselves in a world between separation and music. For each genre, there is a location in the East and one in the West. This is intended to showcase the similarities, differences (parallels), and the Zeitgeist of the respective music scenes of West and East Berlin.
The current focus of the project is on the punk music scene, which gained significant popularity in Berlin. There are plans to expand the experience to other music genres such as Techno, Jazz, or Pop music.
Target group
- music interested people
- history interested people
- culture interested people
- open for all who want to feel the zeitgeist from 80s Berlin
Placement goal
The primary aim of the project is to convey the zeitgeist of the musical landscape in Berlin before reunification. It is also important to show how different the treatment of the individual music scenes in the West and East was or had to be.
Visual design / look
Our visual design makes use of various creative means and textures. We mixed old photographs with 3D scans to create a collage-like world. With the help of assets, textures and audio, users should get the feeling of finding themselves in the world of music.
